When I visit any country or city, I always make it a point to eat what the locals eat or rather queue where the locals queue for food. Not only will I get to sample some of the best food in town, I also know that these will be really affordable (granted that some places will try to rip you off if they know you are a tourist). In Singapore, we have some of the best local food in the world, largely thanks to Singapore being a cosmopolitan city where we are pampered to death with Malay, Chinese and Indian food.


Here's my recommendation of the 10 Best Local Food In Singapore:


  1. Satay


Satay is a Southeast Asian dish of seasoned, skewered and grilled meat, served with a sauce. The earliest preparations of satay is believed to have originated in Javanese cuisine.






2. Hainanese Chicken Rice



Hainanese chicken rice is a dish of poached chicken and seasoned rice, served with chilli sauce and usually with cucumber garnishes. It was created by immigrants from Hainan in southern China and adapted from the Hainanese dish Wenchang chicken.
